Civil society as a factor of resilience and preparedness to crisis phenomena in the contemporary EU. Experiences and challenges is a conference prepared on the initiative of the Ministry for Civil Society, Adriana Porowska (Ministra ds. Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego Adriana Porowska), in which our expert, Łukasz Stępień, will be a speaker.

The conference is organised by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister as part of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The National Institute of Freedom (Narodowy Instytut Wolności) is a partner of the conference.
Presentation by an expert from the Observatory
During the event, an expert from our think tank and resident of Kozanów in Wrocław, Łukasz Stępień, will give a talk entitled: From Risk to Resilience: the Kozanów Case and the Power of Local Action.
The talk will focus on good practices and challenges in preparing local communities for crisis situations. On the example of the Kozanów housing estate in Wrocław, it will be shown how grassroots initiatives and the involvement of residents can increase social resilience and the effectiveness of action in the face of risks.
Purpose of the Conference ‘Civil Society…’
The aim of the Conference is to discuss the role of civil society in building societal resilience and to develop recommendations and good practices on how to cooperate and strengthen this resilience.
It also provides a space to discuss the role of civil society in building crisis preparedness in the changing reality of the European Union.

The conference will take place on 9-10 June 2025 at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk.
