On 24 and 25 June, the next edition of the Security Research Event took place in Warsaw at EXPO XXI. The event did not lack representatives of the Security Observatory.
Security Research Event (SRE)
The Security Research Event (SRE) is an international forum bringing together industry, policy makers, security and safety practitioners, knowledge institutions and critical infrastructure operators.
The theme of the event was security – what threatens it, what challenges it faces, how EU research and innovation can help counter threats and overcome challenges.
Topics SRE 2025
The theme of the 2025 edition was enhancing security through innovation in the EU.
SRE 2025 took place at a turning point for EU civil security. Dynamic changes in global geopolitics, the development of modern digital technologies and increasing extreme weather events are forcing the European Union to constantly update its priorities for action and investment. Hybrid attacks have become a daily occurrence, traditional supply chains are being disrupted, and terrorism and organised crime are flexibly adapting to new realities. Faced with this new normal, the EU must step up its efforts to strengthen its resilience, internal security and strategic autonomy.
Assisting in this effort are technological innovations that enable safety and security professionals to use advanced tools to identify threats, prevent crime and accidents, secure evidence, forecast potential risk scenarios and develop the most effective response strategies.
SRE 2025 thematic blocks
The theme of the event was divided into thematic blocks:
- Thematic panel 1: Future technologies and opportunities for European integrated border management.
- Thematic panel 2: Building a disaster-resilient Europe: innovation as a catalyst for crisis preparedness.
- Thematic panel 3: Research and innovation at the forefront of fighting crime and terrorism and securing society.
- Thematic panel 4: Robust supply chains as a basis for resilient European critical infrastructure.
The entire event agenda can be found at: SRE Agenda 2025.
